Zakat Al-Fitr is a charity given to the poor and needy on Eid Al-Fitr, the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Regarding this payment, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“Remember! Zakat Al-Fitr is Wajib (strongly recommended, just short of obligatory) on every Muslim, man or woman, free or in servitude, adult or child.” (Hadith: Tirmidhi’s Sunan).
Giving this charity is a compulsory act for every Muslim, so long as he or she has the means to do so. The benefits of giving Zakat Al-Fitr are also great, as it has the potential to reduce poverty, cleanse the character, and bring all levels of society closer together.
The minimum amount due for Zakat Al-Fitr is $12 from each person per household. Ease the hearts of the poor and needy by providing for their needs when you give with Zakat House
